Takashi Murakami Debuts Ohana Hatake: A Fusion of Art and Footwear

Takashi Murakami has officially launched Ohana Hatake, his newest venture into footwear that builds on his iconic floral designs. Named from the Japanese phrase meaning “field of flowers,” this brand is Murakami’s first foray into footwear, merging art with function in an unprecedented way.

Throughout the year, Ohana Hatake teased its debut with limited-edition drops, including the Ohana Full-Bloom slides, a collaboration with BLACKPINK. Now, the official launch showcases two signature styles: new colorways of the Ohana Full-Bloom slides and a fresh model named Surippa Ohana, both developed with VIOLET ST’s footwear experts.

The latest Ohana Full-Bloom slides bring vibrant options in “Apricot” and “Raspberry Rose,” available via raffle on the brand’s website. Later this year, the Surippa Ohana model will premiere in a warm “Rust” colorway, highlighting a new direction in Murakami’s footwear line.

Speaking on the brand’s launch, Murakami shared, “I am pursuing an expression that explores the very relationship between American and Japanese cultures. I would love it if those who wear these sandals could sense how this team managed to craft something wonderful out of my quirky, off-the-mark ideas.”
