The CAPRI® trademark Arrives on The Island that Inspired It After 76 years.

A historic moment for the island: The CAPRI® trademark, registered on May 22, 1948, by Cotonificio Vallesusa in Class 24 of the national fashion sector and renewed on December 4, 1956, in Classes 23, 24, and 25 of the international fashion sector, has finally arrived on the island that served as its muse. After more than 70 years of separation and legal battles (76, to be precise), it has now found its natural home, transforming into a symbol of excellence, culture, and lifestyle — just like its source of inspiration: the island itself.

After 76 years, the CAPRI® trademark has finally found its permanent home: the island of Capri. A place that has always been intrinsically linked to fashion. This very island has inspired the greatest designers and some of the most influential people in the world. Valentino and his timeless elegance, Dolce & Gabbana, who chose it for its Mediterranean settings, Emilio Pucci and his marvelous printed fabrics… Everyone remembers the extraordinary beauty of Jackie Kennedy wearing the iconic Capri pants designed by Sonja De Lennart, or Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn, who turned them into an undisputed symbol of grace and sophistication. Thus, it is nothing less than a great honor for me to bring the CAPRI® trademark here, which we have acquired in Class 25 of the fashion sector. Today, CAPRI® is Capri!" - Antonino Aiello
Antonino Aiello, well-known as the founder of 100% Capri — an international brand that has been redefining high fashion for over 25 years by elevating linen and using the finest linen in the world — spearheads the project marking this memorable reunion.

An Authentic Connection: Today, CAPRI® is Capri

With this long-awaited reunion, a bond that spanned more than half a century of Capri’s history is finally made official. During this time, every shore, path, and corner of the island inspired artists, filmmakers, designers, and musicians, leaving an indelible mark on cultural heritage. However, these decades were also marked by numerous legal disputes and warnings against companies or individuals who used the trademark, often with the intent to contribute to the community.

Thus, what might seem like a mere "bureaucratic detail" is, in reality, a happy ending that opens the door to a new era, entrusted to hands ready to manage it wisely.

"Today is the day when Capri is no longer just a name but a tangible reality on the island. Today, CAPRI® is Capri!" Aiello added.

A Vision Through Past, Present, and Future

Aiello’s words pave the way for an ambitious project built on three fundamental ideological pillars:

Protecting the CAPRI®

Strengthening the trademark as an exclusive symbol of Italian quality and style, preventing improper uses, and enhancing its global value.

Rooting CAPRI® Locally

Encouraging cooperative synergy among citizens, artisans, and local businesses as part of a community project in which every Capri resident becomes part of a unified team. This initiative celebrates the island’s heritage, creativity, and spirit, making them the protagonists of shared success.

Celebrating CAPRI®

Highlighting the island’s cultural, natural, and artistic legacy while promoting an authentic global image that reflects its timeless beauty, looking toward the future while honoring the past.

A Bridge Between Tradition and Innovation

Proud of this vision, Antonino Aiello is determined to preserve and relaunch the trademark’s authenticity, turning it into a global symbol of Italian refinement. He envisions a future where it serves as an institutional bridge to the island, respecting its unique identity.

"We are celebrating not just a trademark but an idea. This project is not a business venture for me; it is an act of love for the island, and I am deeply honored to contribute to writing a new chapter in its history, alongside a true Capri native," Aiello concluded, passing the floor to his partner Luigi Iodice.

Iodice, a master craftsman and head of the Bottega Capri — creating traditional island sandals since 1917 — remarked: "As a true Capri native, I am thrilled to contribute to this ambitious yet necessary project for the island. Capri represents authenticity, tradition, hospitality, and excellence. We all have a duty to preserve our history for those who come after us. Capri is forever." December 19, 2024, marks the beginning of a new era for CAPRI®, and its people. A legendary island and an iconic trademark: a perfect union that promises to leave a lasting legacy.
