Emily Alexandra Guglielmo: Innovation in Skincare That Respects the Oceans

In a market saturated with personal care products, where innovation often focuses on the latest in anti-aging technology or aesthetic trends, little attention is given to the impact these products have beyond the skin. What happens to sunscreen residues that end up in the oceans? How do chemicals affect marine life and the fragile ecosystems of coral reefs? These vital questions are rarely part of the conversation in the cosmetics industry.

In a world increasingly conscious of sustainability, creating products that protect not only people but also the environment remains a largely unexplored vision. However, recent initiatives are proving that it is possible to merge beauty, personal care, and environmental responsibility. Enter Emily Alexandra Guglielmo, an entrepreneur and philanthropist making a difference by designing a line of products that not only nurture the skin but also respect and protect the oceans.

A Skincare Line with a Purpose

Siren Skin Skincare™ evolved from Emily Alexandra Cosmetics. According to Emily, her love for water and her identity as a professional mermaid inspired her to create a line that is safe for oceans and coral reefs while protecting the skin from UV rays with clean ingredients. "Siren Skin is completely coral reef-safe, ocean-friendly, hypoallergenic, and water-resistant, while adding a cosmetic touch to its sun protection products," she explains.

The primary ingredients in this line include zinc oxide, which provides SPF 50 sun protection without the harmful chemicals found in traditional sunscreens, and red algae extract, rich in antioxidants and hydration. Emily highlights that these components are sustainable and do not harm marine ecosystems. Additionally, all products contain vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. “Hyaluronic acid deeply hydrates the skin and reduces fine lines, while vitamin C brightens the skin and combats damage caused by free radicals," she adds.

One of the standout products in the line is the Siren Skin Sun Shield, a sunscreen that combines broad-spectrum UV protection with antioxidants, designed to be both effective and environmentally safe.

Education and Technology: An Interactive Blend

Emily is also developing an educational app called IEarn. Its goal is to allow children and teenagers aged 4 to 17 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) subjects while earning tokens that can be converted into real cryptocurrency on the Solana blockchain. According to Emily, users can complete lessons and challenges aligned with school curriculums, learning financial and digital skills in the process.

Emily notes that IEarn includes educational modules related to sustainability and water conservation, aiming to teach young users about the importance of protecting this vital resource through interactive and engaging games.

Philanthropy Through Water

Through her non-profit organization, SupportingWater.org, Emily focuses on bringing clean drinking water to communities in emerging nations. According to her, the organization’s purpose is to tackle water scarcity and contamination by installing filtration systems, building wells, and educating communities on sustainable water management.

Emily has announced plans to expand SupportingWater.org projects with missions in Africa and Vietnam in 2025, seeking volunteers to join this cause.
