Sergio Checo Pérez Finds a New Home in Brickell

Sergio "Checo" Pérez may not be on the grid for the Miami Grand Prix this year, but that doesn’t mean he’s leaving the city behind. The former Red Bull Racing driver has just secured a luxury residence at the St. Regis Residences, a highly anticipated 50-story ultra-luxury tower set to rise in the heart of Brickell.

The news first surfaced on his Instagram account, where he shared a series of photos hinting at his new acquisition. A press release later confirmed that the Mexican driver had purchased a four-bedroom residence in this prestigious development, which is already over 65% sold and expected to be completed by 2027.

For Pérez, Miami has evolved from a simple stop on the Formula 1 calendar to something more personal. "Miami has become incredibly special to me after spending the past few years here for F1, and I look forward to enjoying this stunning new home with my family and friends," he stated. "I’ve always been drawn to the St. Regis brand, and with the towers’ privacy and prime location in Brickell, it’s the perfect place to call home."

Pérez’s new residence is nothing short of spectacular. Featuring panoramic views of Biscayne Bay, private elevator access, spa-inspired bathrooms, and a state-of-the-art kitchen equipped with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, the property is designed for those who demand the highest standards of luxury. The St. Regis Residences also offer an impressive selection of exclusive amenities, including private marina access, a residents-only fine-dining restaurant by acclaimed chef Fabio Trabocchi, a multisport simulator, a teen video game lounge, and exclusive beach club access. Prices for remaining units start at $5 million, a figure befitting a driver accustomed to million-dollar race cars.

Pérez’s move to Miami coincides with a turning point in his career. After more than a decade in Formula 1, Red Bull Racing announced in December 2024 that they would not be renewing his contract for the 2025 season. His seat will be taken by Liam Lawson, a 23-year-old New Zealander and former Red Bull reserve driver.

While Red Bull team principal Christian Horner framed Pérez’s departure as a possible "sabbatical," his father, Antonio Pérez Garibay, painted a much more definitive picture. Speaking to Mexican news station N+ FORO, he stated bluntly that his son’s Formula 1 career had come to an end. "Today is a total retirement; there is nothing, there is no plan B, there is no plan C. Today, at this moment, the Formula 1 page is closing, as it closed before arriving at Red Bull," he said.

It marks the end of an era for a driver who made history as the first Mexican in 30 years to start an F1 race when he debuted at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix. Over the years, he raced for teams including Sauber, McLaren, Force India, and Racing Point before his high-profile stint with Red Bull. His career boasts six Grand Prix victories, 39 podium finishes, and over 1,600 championship points, securing his place as one of Mexico’s most successful racing drivers.

With his racing future uncertain, Pérez seems to be shifting gears, embracing a new chapter in a city that has long been a playground for the elite. Whether this signals a permanent departure from motorsport or simply a well-earned break, one thing is certain: Checo Pérez has found his next home in Miami.
